Fuel prices
What it is. This index tracks the regulated pump prices for petrol 93, petrol 95, diesel 50ppm and domestic paraffin, in maloti per litre. The Petroleum Fund reviews and publishes the prices each month.
Why it matters. Fuel sits near the start of almost every supply chain, so a change in the pump price feeds into transport, food and the wider cost of living within weeks. Paraffin matters on its own because many households rely on it for cooking and light, which makes it a direct measure of energy poverty.
